About Wordtide

Wordtide is a quiet word search. A grid of letters hides a list of words; you drag across them to trace one, and it locks under a coloured band. When the list is empty, the grid is done.
Every grid is built by a generator, not typed in by hand. It checks each board before you see it: every word on the list really is in there, it is in there exactly once, and the filler letters around it are drawn from the letter frequencies of the language you are playing in. A grid never asks you to find something that is not there.
How to Play
- Press a letter and drag to the end of the word. Words run in a straight line — across, down or diagonally, and from the eighth chapter onwards backwards as well.
- A word you find locks under a coloured band and leaves the list below the grid.
- One extra word is hidden in every grid and is not on the list. Finding that secret word pays coins.
- Nothing is ever lost. A wrong drag simply fades, and the clock only records your time.

Nine Puzzle Languages
The words in the grid are written natively in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish, Indonesian and Russian — a Spanish grid holds Spanish words, not translated English ones. Your phone's language picks one of the nine automatically. The interface itself is in thirteen languages; Arabic, Hindi, Japanese and Korean open on English grids in this version, and you can choose any of the nine in Settings.
Fair Hints
The first hint on every grid costs nothing. It lights up the first letter of a word you have not found yet, for three seconds, so it gives you a place to start rather than the answer. Later hints cost coins, and the game always asks first.
No Timer Pressure
There is a clock, but the only thing that depends on it is your own record and the third star. Take an hour over a 12x12 if you like. There is no way to lose a grid.
Wordtide is free to play, with optional coin packs.
