Split a PDF or extract pages

Need just two pages out of a long PDF, or one file per page? Split it right here. The tool runs in your browser, so the PDF never leaves your device.

The tool above works in your browser: your files stay on your device and are not uploaded. The steps below are for this tool.

How to split a PDF here

  1. Choose your PDF in the tool above. It opens on your device; nothing is sent anywhere.
  2. Type the pages you want, for example 1-3, 7, to make one new PDF with just those pages.
  3. Or choose to save every page as its own PDF. You get them together in one ZIP file.
  4. Download the result. Your original PDF is not changed.

Splitting copies the pages exactly as they are, so text stays sharp and searchable. A PDF locked with a password has to be unlocked first.

When splitting helps

  • Upload forms that want each document as a separate file, such as a marksheet, an ID and a certificate.
  • Size limits: one part of a big scan may fit a 1 MB or 500 KB limit where the whole file does not. Split first, then compress each part.
  • Sharing just what is needed: send page 4 of a bank statement, not all twelve.

On your phone

PDF Maker for Android splits by page ranges (for example 1-3, 5, 8-) or every N pages, and shows the plan before it saves, such as "3 files: 1-3, 5, 8-12". It can also merge PDFs and reorder or turn pages.

Questions

Is it safe to split a PDF here?

Yes. The tool runs in your browser and your PDF is never uploaded, so nobody else can see it.

Will splitting lower the quality?

No. The pages are copied as they are, with the same text and pictures. Nothing is re-scanned or compressed.

How do I write a page range?

Use commas between parts and a dash for a run of pages: 1-3, 5, 9-10 gives pages 1, 2, 3, 5, 9 and 10 in one new PDF.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Only after removing the password, which needs you to know it. Use the unlock tool first.
