How to convert a PDF to Excel
- Open PDF Maker and tap PDF to Excel in the Convert group.
- Choose the PDF, from your phone or from Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive through Android's file picker.
- Choose how the sheets are laid out: one sheet for each page, or turn on All pages on one sheet for one long table (handy for a statement that runs over several pages).
- Tap Convert, then open, share or save the .xlsx file.
Tables become cells you can work with
PDF Maker finds the tables on each page and writes every value into its own cell. Numbers, percentages, amounts of money and dates are stored as numbers with their format, not as text, so you can add up a column, sort by date or filter by amount straight away. The text around the tables (titles, addresses, notes) goes in as single rows, top to bottom, so nothing on the page is lost.
The .xlsx file opens in any spreadsheet app on a phone or a computer.
Scanned statements
If the PDF is a scan or a photo, the app reads it with text recognition (OCR) first. OCR reads Latin-script text and Devanagari. Check the figures against the original, because a blurred scan can misread a digit. A page that cannot be read is added as a picture.
Tips for clean results
- PDFs made by a computer (bank and card statements downloaded from a website, invoices, reports) convert most cleanly: their numbers are real text.
- If you only need one table from a long file, extract those pages first, then convert.
- A PDF locked with a password has to be unlocked first.
- Without Pro, PDF to Excel is one of the day's smart exports; the app shows how many are left before you start.
